One such food product is gluten. Gluten is found in many products as it is contained in Barley, rye and wheat. Some research has shown that those who have sensitivity to gluten are also at a much higher risk for Psoriasis outbreaks. While a direct correlation has yet to be scientifically proven, some dermatologists and nutritionists recommend adopting a gluten free diet.

Another food product that tends to cause inflammation is dairy products. Those with Psoriasis should consider cutting out milk and cheese from their diets. If you do consume milk, stay away from whole milk. You may even want to consider alternatives such as soymilk or almond milk. Are you someone who enjoys a nice red, bloody steak for dinner? Unfortunately, this is another food that tends to cause inflammation. This is due to the fatty content of the meat. Ideally, you would cut out red meat completely out of your diet for a couple of weeks in order to determine if it is causing inflammation. If this seems too difficult keep the meat to a minimum, and when you do eat meat make sure it is lean and well cooked. It is also important to cut out alcohol out of your diet, as studies have shown alcohol consumption increases risk of a flare-up.
A great substitute for meat in your diet is fish. This is because fish contain Omega 3 fatty acids. Researchers have discovered that these fatty acids help naturally reduce inflammation. Eating fish two or three times a week is also great for your heart. This is an important consideration since studies have shown people with Psoriasis tend to be more susceptible to heart disease. Another great addition to your diet is food rich in antioxidants. Berries are an excellent source of antioxidants. These help psoriasis by naturally maintaining the health of the immune system.
In addition to these foods, any food rich in vitamins A and D are a great addition for your diet. Vitamin A is one of the main vitamins responsible for healthy skin. It can be found in foods like carrots, mangos and tomatoes. Vitamin D can also be found in foods, but a great natural source that is easy to get is sunlight. Simply spending 15 minutes a day in the sun can give you your daily dose of Vitamin D. Getting your daily dose of vitamins A and D will at least ensure your Psoriasis flare-up is not from a vitamin deficiency.
